The Den Chief helps with den meetings, helps the Cub Scouts earn achievements, and serves as a Scout role model for younger Cubs. The Den Chief also has the opportunity to serve as a recruiter by promoting Troop activities to Webelos and working with Pack and Troop leadership to promote joint events. The Den Chief is an important link between the Pack and the Troop!

The Den Chief position gives youth in Scouts BSA and Venturing the chance to mentor, encourage, and have fun with Cub Scouts! Den Chief is also a Position of Responsibility, which some Scouts need for rank advancement. Den Chief training is required for Scouts to receive the Den Chief Service Award.

Please note that the Den Chief training available online is a “fast start” course that you can take as an overview for the position, but it does not replace this in-person, instructor-led course.

The minimum rank for Den Chief Training Participants is First Class.
Participants of this course are encouraged to wear their Scouts BSA or Venturing field uniforms. Each session is limited to 12 participants. Registration for each session will close 3 days before the event date. BRING PEN & PAPER!
Den Chief Handbook is included with your $15 registration fee!
